I have a confession

I have to be honest about something.

I didn’t start shopping at Ann Taylor until a few months ago and LOFT until about maybe a year ago. And then yesterday, I bought something from Talbots. A couple of things actually. So I feel the need to confess that I have always stereotyped these stores as ‘old lady’ stores.

How beautiful is this skirt? It fit me like a glove so I knew I had to have it. The colors, the large floral print, the fit – everything about it is perfect. Which leads to another truth – I’m a bargain hunter (which I’m sure you knew about me already) this skirt was $24 after an additional 50% off. I can’t believe the quality I’m getting for the price I’m paying!

Wearing: Ruffles, feathers and leather

Wearing:

  • Target ruffle tank
  • Target cardigan
  • Express skinny jeans
  • Kmart sandals
  • Claire’s necklace
  • H&M Ring
Thought this necklace was neat so I had to have it. I love the chains and strips of leather as well as the turquoise beads. The H&M ring is the one ring I picked up on my last trip there. I love it!
I’m sure it’s the heat that is making me feel uninspired.  All I want to do is wear a bikini and sip margaritas by the pool. I actually went out and played volleyball in the heat on Sunday evening. It was so hot but still so fun. I played a lot when I was younger but after having kids, didn’t play at all. I’ve never been a power hitter, but I can pass and serve. I can still play! Haha, I was pretty proud of myself. Oldest lady on the court and still not to bad!

Target Summer Shoe Clearance

Hi ladies! This is a post I’ve been meaning to get up for a few days now but it’s just been way too hot to make the effort!

I was at Target the other day to pick up paper plates for the office and stopped in the shoe department just to look! There are a lot of mark downs on summer sandals and shoes in-store right now. Here are the highlights of what I found:

Yes, the Dolce Vita wedges have been marked down, so if you want them, get them! The only pair I wanted to go home with was the snakeskin Versie pump but there wasn’t a size 7 available. I was SO good at Target though! I picked up the paper plates I needed and a couple of pairs of leggings for my daughter and that was it! That rarely happens.

My sister and I also stopped in at Ann Taylor yesterday and scored a couple of really great deals. I picked up another silk camp shirt (in navy), this time for less than $5 and a skirt for the same price. My sister picked up a black blazer for $5. UNBELIEVABLE prices!

I’m guest posting on The Average Girls Guide!

Happy Thursday everyone! I’m so excited to let you know that I’m guest blogging for Alyson on The Average Girls Guide today. I met her through twitter where we quickly became friends. She has an amazing blog filled with great ideas for – you got it – the average girl. I love her simple and tasty recipes, her tips on household and lifestyle as well as her style. She owns her own PR firm and is mom to the cutest mini-Alyson ever. She’s a great twitter buddy – so follow her on twitter @AvgGirlsGuide and also check out her blog where I give you my 5 Must Haves!

Penny Pincher Fashion posted a blog yesterday about being new to the blogger world and the wonderful women out there who have embraced her new blog – and she included ME among three other fabulous women. Being new to blogging myself, I’m so extremely touched and humbled by her sweet post. We are definitely on the same wavelength because I have also been doing some thinking about the connections I’ve made because of blogging and tweeting. I’ve blogged and put myself out there before, but never in the way that I’ve done with My Dressy Ways. It’s only been about two months since I made a real commitment to blogging and I’ve found it to be incredibly rewarding because of the friends I’ve made. I just can’t say it as beautifully as she did! She really took the words out of my mouth and did such a great job with the post – so please, go check it out. And while you’re there, check out her blog too if you haven’t been on there already. She is gorgeous, smart, thrifty and has phenomenal taste, my kind of gal!

Wearing: Ann Taylor colorblock top and my weekend

Wearing:

  • Ann Taylor colorblock top
  • Charlotte Russe jeans and wedges

My husband is getting a little ridiculous at taking pictures of me. He just snaps, snaps away and I end up with tons of goofy looking pictures of me making faces at him or laughing at his antics. So out of all the shots he took of this outfit, these are the only two I could use. I bought this top last week at Ann Taylor and I couldn’t be happier with it. I think it’d look great paired with pants or a pencil skirt too but I couldn’t wait to wear it so I kept it casual with a pair of jeans and wedges.

A lil bit about my weekend (plus I have a few photos to share):

It was a great weekend spent with my family. My mom and dad live in Georgia which is three hours away from where I live.  After dinner, my mom even suggested we go catch a movie before we go home. I laughed at her willingness to try anything for a couple of extra hours with us. When I think about it, it’s gotta be hard going from eight kids to three living at home. (Yes, I have a huge family!) I can’t even begin to fathom the day my two are gone and it’s just my husband and me!

Anyway, before I get really super emotional on here – yesterday the girls went shopping. (OF COURSE!) We did end up at H&M at Atlantic Station. It is a huge store, but extremely picked through. The store was super crowded and I had a hard time finding anything in my size. I picked up a few tops for my daughter and walked out with a lone ring for me.

I did pick up a new pair of kicks at Target! Check ‘em out! I’ve been wanting a pair of Chucks for awhile now and these are perfect.

My sister (like my husband) also thinks it’s funny to take ridiculous shots of me. I love the support.

My Dressy Ways blog supporters. They’re the best. Especially my little one. She wants her own ‘website’ too. :P

My mommy!

My weekends ARE less dressy unless I have a special event. Summer outfits are pretty simple and low-key since I’m toting around two little ones in the heat and humidity. That’s why I’m so excited about my chucks! They’ll be a nice addition to my more casual weekend outfits.

  • Target Converse chambray shirt
  • Express jeans
  • Kmart sandals
  • Mimi Boutique Justina bag
We’re down in Georgia visiting my mom for the weekend. I always try to do a little bit of shopping when I’m down here because my mom lives in an area where every other block has a shopping center. More places than I can shop, can you imagine that? We haven’t been able to get to get to the mall yet, but I do want to head to Atlantic Station where there’s a huge two story H&M. My mom has one at the mall near her house, but the selection isn’t that great because it’s a smaller store.
This chambray shirt is the perfect summer shirt because the material is so light and breathe-able. I paired it with my jeans because it was actually a little chilly down here in the South yesterday! Today is warmer, but not as hot and humid as we’re accustomed to down here so it’s a nice break for all of us! I’m enjoying it!
I drove by the Ann Taylor near my mom’s house and noticed they already have a couple of their fall pieces in the window. I’m really hoping on nabbing one of these cold cuffs soon! The price is higher than I’d like topay, but I will be looking out for a sale and/or coupon! I think I’m willing to shell out a bit more for this piece though, I love the modern curves of it!
I hope you’re having a great weekend!
